ABOUT
Ratgirl is the quirky name behind the line of jewellery by Krissy Ross. As a little girl growing up in Northern Ontario, Krissy was often involved in something crafty, either with her nose buried in a colouring book orher fingers covered in glue. Since launching her business in 2002, Krissy has found inspiration in her childhood memories..... things that made her smile as a 10-year-old girl often end up influencing her
designs.
Ratgirl's current line of jewellery includes necklaces, earrings, charm bracelets, hairpins and brooches, all of which feature charms and pendants made from shrinkable plastic. Krissy carefully hand-draws and colours each piece individually. Although this can be a time-consuming process, it is absolutely a labour of love It also ensures that no two items are exactly alike.
Ratgirl jewellery has been featured in Bust magazine, Toronto's NOW magazine, and mentioned in The National Post. Krissy has shown and sold her work at several craft shows, including the Toronto One of a Kind Show since 2005.
These days, Krissy is pretty much obsessed with CBC Radio One, listening to Julie Doiron, and eating cupcakes.
